Historic King William Series

In 1968 the King William District was the first neighborhood in Texas to receive the Historic District designation. Located just south of Downtown and La Villita, it is roughly five blocks wide and eight blocks long.  This is an old settlement, first used as agricultural fields for the Mission San Antonio de Valero (now known as The Alamo).  Many of the grand houses were built by early German settlers who established businesses, many of which still exist today.  I'll be adding to this Series over the next few months - stay tuned!

For more information, see the San Antonio Conservation Society, the King William Association, and Villa Finale, the only National Trust site in the state.
